Master of Education (MEd) 2025 – NIE

Applications are invited for Master of Education (MEd) 2025 at the National Institute of Education (NIE)

The National Institute of Education (NIE) has announced the commencement of applications for its Master of Education (M.Ed.) Degree Programme (2025/2026). The part-time program is designed to enhance the professional qualifications of educators, leading to SLQF Level 9 and providing a pathway to SLQF Level 10.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates meeting any of the following criteria are eligible to apply:

• Category 01: Bachelor of Education Degree (SLQF 6) with a minimum GPA of 2.7 or at least five B passes.
• Category 02: Any Bachelor’s Degree (SLQF 5 or 6) along with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education meeting the same GPA or grade requirements.
• Category 03: Any Bachelor’s Degree (SLQF 5 or 6) with Class Designation and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, along with a minimum of three years of service in any of the following:
  • Sri Lanka Teacher Service (SLTS)
  • Sri Lanka In-Service Advisor Service (SLISAS)
  • Sri Lanka Principal Service (SLPS)
  • Sri Lanka Educational Administrative Service (SLEAS)
  • Sri Lanka Teacher Educator Service (SLTES)
  • University and higher education lecturers
  • Heads and teachers of semi-government, private, international, Pirivena, or religious schools.

• Tamil Medium: NIE Main Campus and Jaffna NCOE
• English Medium: NIE Main Campus

Fee Structure

• Application Fee: Rs. 2,000
• Registration Fee: Rs. 2,000
• SLQF Level 9 Course Fee: Rs. 150,000
• SLQF Level 10 Course Fee: Rs. 150,000
• Payment Facility: The fee can be paid in two installments, and Bank of Ceylon Credit Card facilities are available.
