India Offers 60 Undergraduate Scholarships to Sri Lankan Students for 2025/26 Academic Year

The Ministry of Education, Higher Education has announced the opening of applications for the prestigious Undergraduate Scholarships to Sri Lankan Students – Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Undergraduate Scholarships under the Nehru Memorial and Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship Schemes for the academic year 2025/26. The Government of India is offering 60 scholarships to deserving Sri Lankan students in various disciplines.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be Sri Lankan citizens aged 18-40 years as of March 1, 2025.
- Have obtained a minimum of three passes at the 2023 G.C.E. (A/L) examination in the relevant fields.
- Possess a good knowledge of English (at least a “C” pass in the G.C.E. O/L and “S” pass in G.C.E. A/L).
- Be in good health and willing to reside in India for the duration of their studies.
- Not be currently enrolled as an internal student in a state university in Sri Lanka.
Fields of Study & Scholarships Available
The scholarships are offered under two categories:
- Nehru Memorial Scholarship Scheme (50 scholarships) – Covers Engineering (BE/B.Tech), Science, Business, Economics, Commerce, Humanities, and Arts.
- Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship Scheme (10 scholarships) – Exclusively for students from the Mathematical stream, covering Bachelor of Engineering (BE), Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech), and Information Technology.
Note: The scholarships do not cover Medical, Paramedical, Law, or Fashion Design courses.
Scholarship Benefits
Selected candidates will receive:
- Full tuition fee coverage.
- Monthly sustenance allowance.
- Annual grant for books and stationery.
- Airfare to the nearest destination in India.
- Educational tour grant.
- Hostel accommodation inside the university campus.
