The program covers various topics, including sociolinguistics, applied linguistics, psycholinguistics, teaching methodology, testing and evaluation, educational sociology and psychology, and technology in teaching, combined with a full teaching practicum.
Exit Points
Students can exit the MA TESL (2-year) program with:
- Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching English as a Second Language (PGDip TESL): A 10-month postgraduate diploma with a teaching practicum and portfolio.
- Master of Teaching English as a Second Language (MTESL): A 1-year Master’s degree by coursework.
Entry Requirements
Applicants must meet specific academic and teaching experience qualifications. Here’s a summary:

Applicants with recognized teacher training qualifications and extensive English language teaching experience will also be considered.

- Application Availability: 15th July to 18th August, 2024
- Selection Test Date: 24th August, 2024 at the Examination Center in PGIE, The Open University, Nawala.
