The Ministry of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education has announced a new financial assistance program aimed at supporting students with disabilities from low-income backgrounds. Introduced under the 2026 Budget proposals, the initiative seeks to encourage educational engagement among children whose schooling has been hindered by financial and physical challenges.
Qualified students will receive a monthly allowance of Rs. 5,000 based on medical recommendations.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for this scholarship, students must meet the following requirements:
- Income Status: The family’s annual income must be below Rs. 180,000.
- Medical Condition:Â The student must have a disability verified by a medical professional.
- Enrollment:Â The student must be currently enrolled in school, a government-aided school, or a Pirivena
