What Is the GCE A/L 2025 Official Result Certificate?
The GCE A/L result certificate is the formal document issued by the Department of Examinations confirming your subject grades and performance in the Advanced Level examination. It carries the Department’s official seal and signature — making it legally valid for:
- ✔ Local and international university admissions
- ✔ Employment and job applications
- ✔ Scholarship and fellowship programmes
- ✔ Professional qualification registrations (CIMA, ACCA, SLIM, etc.)
- ✔ Visa, emigration, and consular purposes
Who Is Eligible to Apply?
You may apply for the official result certificate if you meet all of the following conditions:
School Candidates
Students who sat for the 2025 A/L exam through a government or government-approved private school.
Private Candidates
External candidates who applied independently using their NIC number are equally eligible to apply online.
Exam Year: 2025
Held from November 10 to December 5, 2025. This online service covers examinations after 2000.
Pre-2001 Exams
If your exam was held before 2001, you must apply in person at the Department of Examinations, Battaramulla.
What You Need Before You Apply
Gather the following before starting your online certificate application:
- ✔ A/L Index Number — on your admit card and individual result sheet
- ✔ NIC Number — 9-digit old NIC or 12-digit new NIC
- ✔ Home delivery address — ensure accuracy; this is where your certificate will be posted
- ✔ Active mobile number — for OTP identity verification
- ✔ Payment method — credit card, debit card, or access to Bank of Ceylon / People’s Bank
- ✔ Stable internet connection — a laptop or desktop is recommended for smooth form completion
Step-by-Step: How to Apply Online
Visit the Official Department of Examinations Website
Open your browser and go to www.doenets.lk or www.onlineexams.gov.lk. Navigate to the “Certificate Application” section. Always use only official government domains — avoid third-party websites claiming to offer this service.
Select G.C.E. Advanced Level – 2025
From the certificate menu, choose G.C.E. A/L 2025. The portal supports both O/L and A/L certificates for examinations held after 2000 — ensure you select the correct year and examination level.
Fill In Your Personal and Examination Details
Accurately complete the online form: full name (as registered), Index Number, NIC number, date of birth, contact mobile number, and your home delivery address. Double-check every field — errors may cause delivery failures or rejection of the application.
Verify Your Identity via OTP
An OTP (One-Time Password) will be sent to your registered mobile number. Enter this code in the portal within the validity window to confirm your identity and proceed to payment.
Pay the Certificate Fee
Payment can be made online (credit or debit card) or at a designated bank branch — Bank of Ceylon or People’s Bank island-wide. Retain your payment receipt or confirmation number safely for any future follow-up.
Submit and Save Your Confirmation
After payment is confirmed, submit your application. You will receive an on-screen confirmation with a reference number. Screenshot or print this page immediately — you will need it if you need to follow up on your application status.
Receive Your Certificate at Home
Once processed by the Department of Examinations, your original official GCE A/L 2025 result certificate will be dispatched to your registered home address by post. Delivery timelines vary by location and volume of applications being processed island-wide.
Download Your Individual Result Sheet
While waiting for your physical certificate, you can download your individual result sheet from the Department’s portal as an interim reference. School principals can also download a full school results register (Excel and PDF formats).
Re-Scrutiny of GCE A/L 2025 Results
If you believe your results do not accurately reflect your performance, you may apply for re-scrutiny (recorrection) of your answer papers. Key information is as follows:

Certificate Authentication for Foreign Use
If you need your GCE A/L certificate authenticated for use abroad — university admissions, visa applications, or foreign employment — you have two pathways depending on the year of your examination:
🌐 Online Authentication
Available for O/L and A/L certificates issued after 2001 — apply through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ online system without visiting in person. Convenient and fast.
🏛️ In-Person Authentication
For certificates issued before 2001, apply through the Department of Examinations at Battaramulla. Authenticated certificates are forwarded to the Consular Affairs Division. Fee: Rs. 800 per document.
